In a move that’s already shaking up Nigeria’s political space, Mustapha Kwankwaso, son of former presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party.
The announcement dropped on Monday via his Facebook page, and yes — it’s as serious as it sounds.
Mustapha, who recently stepped down as Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, made it clear that this wasn’t a random decision. According to him, the move was carefully planned and marks the start of a new political chapter.
“I want to inform the general public that as of today, I have officially resigned my membership from the NNPP,” he stated.
But that’s not even the biggest twist.
He revealed he’s already making moves to join the African Democratic Congress — and he’s clearly hyped about it.
“I am excited about this new chapter in my political journey,” he added.
As a key figure in the Kwankwasiyya movement, Mustapha also explained why ADC is his new choice, saying the party aligns with his vision for better governance, economic growth, and improved living standards for Nigerians.
Meanwhile, sources suggest that his father, Rabiu Kwankwaso, may also be heading in the same direction, with reports claiming he’s set to dump NNPP for ADC soon.
If that happens, this could be a major political shift ahead of the 2027 elections — and honestly, this story is just getting started.
